Davies Epoxy Primer Red Oxide (92-10-1L)

DAVIES® Epoxy Primer is a polyamide-cured epoxy coating with rust-inhibitive properties. It is highly recommended as a protective barrier in corrosive environment and exhibits excellent adhesion to ferrous and non-ferrous metal, wood, and concrete.

SURFACE PREPARATION

Metal, Ferrous
A. New Painting
All surfaces must be clean, dry, free from dust, dirt, chalk, laitance, efflorescence, rust, grease, oil and other foreign materials.
Wipe off oil and grease with solvent or lacquer thinner.
Remove rust, mill scale, and stains with sandpaper, wirebrush, or other abrading methods.
Treat iron surfaces with heavy coating of rust and scale with DAVIES 200-X Rust Converter, wipe off residue and clean with lacquer thinner .
Apply the appropriate metal primer immediately after cleaning and drying to avoid the onset of corrosion.

B. Repainting
If the existing paint is sound and shows slight chalking, sand lightly and wipe off dust.
Remove cracked, peeling off old paint by scraping, wire brushing, or sanding. Use DAVIES 300-X Strip-eze Paint Remover to aid in scraping off old paint.
Treat heavily corroded surfaces with DAVIES 200-X Rust Converter, wipe off residue and clean with lacquer thinner.
Apply the appropriate metal primer immediately after cleaning and drying to avoid the onset of corrosion.

Metal, Non-Ferrous
A. New Painting
All surfaces must be clean, dry, free from dust, dirt, chalk, laitance, efflorescence, rust, grease, oil and other foreign materials.
Clean weathered surfaces with solvent or lacquer thinner to remove all zinc corrosion products and surface contaminants.
Clean with fresh water to remove dirt, stain and other contaminants.
Sand lightly with #80-120 sandpaper to create a surface profile.
Apply one coat of DAVIES 900 Galvanized Wah Primer to ensure maximum adhesion on non-weathered surfaces.


B. Repainting
If the existing paint is sound and shows slight chalking, sand lightly and wipe off dust.
Remove cracked, peeling off old paint by scraping, wire brushing, or sanding. Use DAVIES 300-X Strip-eze Paint Remover to aid in scraping off old paint.
Treat heavily corroded surfaces with DAVIES 200-X Rust Converter.

Concrete
A. New Painting
All surfaces must be clean, dry, free from dust, dirt, chalk, laitance, efflorescence, rust, grease, oil and other foreign materials.
Allow new concrete to cure and dry completely for at least 28 days with a moisture content of less than 15% and a Ph level below 10.
To neutralize and remove efflorescence, treat surfaces with DAVIES 100-X Concrete Neutralizer diluted with 16 parts water to 1 part DV 100-X. Apply by brush or mop to wet surface thoroughly and dry overnight. Rinse with water and dry.
When applying Rendering Paste or Skimcoat for rough surfaces, concrete may be cured for only 7-14 days. Use MONDO SK-1 Skimcoat Superfine White Powder or MONDO SK-2 Rendering Paste.

B. Repainting
Remove mold and mildew growth with DAVIES 500-X Mildewcide Wash Solution. Rinse with water, dry and immediately apply the recommended paint system to prevent regrowth of mold and mildew.
For surfaces that exhibit severe chalk, apply one coat of DAVIES 5-530 Liquid Tile Penetrating Sealer or DAVIES 555 Concrete Clear Sealer.
Repair uneven surfaces with DAVIES 5000 Concrete Putty or DAVIES 5-900 Liquid Tile Cast.

Wood
A. New Painting
All surfaces must be clean, dry, free from dust, dirt, chalk, laitance, efflorescence, rust, grease, oil, and all other foreign materials.
Sand wood surface until smooth to touch with no slivers or rough edges. Dust off and wipe with a clean rag.
Patch all holes and imperfections with DAVIES® 25 Paste Woodfiller or DAVIES® 77 Laxtite for clear varnish finish.Use DAVIES® 790 Speedglaze Lacquer Putty for Duco finish. Sand smooth and dust off.

B. Repainting
Use DAVIES® 300-X Strip-eze Paint Remover to aid in scraping off old paint. 
Patch all holes and imperfections with DAVIES® 25 Paste Woodfiller or DAVIES® 77 Laxtite for clear varnish finish. Use DAVIES® 790 Speedglaze Lacquer Putty for Duco finish. Sand smooth and dust off.

PAINTING SYSTEM

A. Metal, Ferrous

Primer/Sealer: Apply one (1) coat of DAVIES® Epoxy Primer White
Topcoat: Apply two (2) coats of DAVIES® Epoxy Enamel 

B. Metal, Non Ferrous

Pre-treatment: Apply one (1) coat of DAVIES® 900 Vinyl Wash Primer
Primer/Sealer: Apply one (1) coat of DAVIES® Epoxy Primer White
Topcoat: Apply two (2) coats of DAVIES® Epoxy Enamel

C. Concrete

Primer/Sealer: Apply one (1) coat of DAVIES® Epoxy Primer White
Topcoat: Apply two (2) coats of DAVIES® Epoxy Enamel 

D. Wood

Primer/Sealer: Apply one (1) coat of DAVIES® Epoxy Primer White 
Topcoat: Apply two (2) coats of DAVIES® Epoxy Enamel
